From Miritini station to Gede
From Miritini the route heads back through Changamwe towards the city before turning north. The drive follows the North Coast road through Kilifi and alongside the Arabuko Sokoke forest to the Gede junction.
On the way you pass Mtwapa Creek Bridge, Kilifi Bridge and Arabuko Sokoke.
Skip the crowd at the station exit
Taxi drivers crowd the Miritini exit when a train comes in. Your driver holds a name board, helps with luggage and follows the train’s real arrival time, so a late train costs you nothing.
Staying in Gede
Most visitors to Gede are staying in Watamu or Malindi and come for the ruins and the forest, though there are a few guesthouses nearby.

Gede is part of the wider Watamu area, about 5 km from Watamu itself (10–25 min by road). From Miritini the transfer takes 2h–2h45, compared with 2h–2h45 to Watamu.
