The drive from Moi International to Shimoni
The drive continues past Diani and Msambweni on the South Coast road, then turns off towards the coast for the final stretch into Shimoni.
On the way you pass Dongo Kundu bypass, Ukunda and Msambweni. Because the bypass avoids Mombasa island, traffic rarely adds much time outside public holidays.

Most visitors come on a day trip from Diani. For overnight stays there are a few small lodges in Shimoni, including the Pemba Channel Fishing Club, and guesthouses on Wasini Island.
Regular drop-offs include Shimoni jetty, Wasini Island and Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park. Once you have settled in, Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park and Wasini Island are close by.
Good to know before you land
Dhow trips leave early. For a Diani pickup we usually collect you between 07:00 and 08:00.
Uber and Bolt work at the airport, but on a 85 km trip drivers sometimes decline, or ask to switch to cash once they see the luggage. A pre-booked car removes that uncertainty after a long flight.
