The drive from Moi International to Tiwi
The transfer takes the Dongo Kundu bypass from the airport side of Mombasa, joins the South Coast highway at Kibundani, passes the Kombani junction and turns left towards the sea about 7 km before Ukunda.
On the way you pass Dongo Kundu bypass, Kibundani and Kombani. Because the bypass avoids Mombasa island, traffic rarely adds much time outside public holidays.

Most stays are beach cottages, self-catering houses, small lodges and the long-running Twiga Lodge campsite, reached by two access roads from the main South Coast highway.
Regular drop-offs include Tiwi Beach, Tiwi village, Mwachema (Kongo) River mouth and Bata road. Once you have settled in, Tiwi Beach and Kongo Mosque are close by.
Good to know before you land
There are two access roads to Tiwi Beach. The northern one is a sandy track that gets rough after rain; the southern one is wider. Tell us the property name and we will take the better road for it.
Uber and Bolt work at the airport, but on a 30 km trip drivers sometimes decline, or ask to switch to cash once they see the luggage. A pre-booked car removes that uncertainty after a long flight.
