From Miritini station to Shimoni
Miritini station sits right by the start of the Dongo Kundu bypass, so the South Coast is one of the smoothest rides from the train: no city crossing and no ferry. The drive continues past Diani and Msambweni on the South Coast road, then turns off towards the coast for the final stretch into Shimoni.

Taxi drivers crowd the Miritini exit when a train comes in. Your driver holds a name board, helps with luggage and follows the train’s real arrival time, so a late train costs you nothing.
Staying in Shimoni
Most visitors come on a day trip from Diani. For overnight stays there are a few small lodges in Shimoni, including the Pemba Channel Fishing Club, and guesthouses on Wasini Island.
